Technological progress can erode many basic skills and lead to over reliance on technology. Many students lack basic math skills because they can simply use a calculator to work even simple problems. And when one potentially has so much knowledge at their fingertips, how many actually remember things for when they don't have an internet connection? Further, it is easier to remember things if they are physically written and read. Certainly there are benefits, but speed comes at the cost of an inability to function without technology. And of course, much of the time technology is not used for educational purposes and rather for things such as social networking which serve only to make our society more shallow and discourage actual face to face interaction. As for military use, drones and their operators from afar simply cannot make the sort of judgment calls regarding civilians and collateral damage that a soldier on the ground can. While technology might have uses, given human nature it is almost certain to be misused.
