Nonsense. The universe exist and explanations have to be proposed to explain why it exist and why it exist the way it does. An explanation that relies on an intelligent designer is perferctly feasible, since a variety of constants in our universe have to be just right to create the matter world we live in and so that complex biological life in our universe can be possible.

Is there any evidence that dark matter exist? No. Absolutely none.

But dark matter is proposed because there's an inconsistency with the way gravity works at the small scale of the universe (planets, solar systems) and the way it works at the large scale of the universe (galaxies, galactic clusters). Gravity seems to be greater than permitted (by general relativity) at the scale of the very big as opposed to our scale - and this inconsistency needs to be explained, because the current model without dark matter as an explanation fails pretty badly (it suggest than the constants in general relativity are somehow wrong at the scale of the very large).

However, there are alternative explanations to this gravity problem that don't require the existence of dark matter. Ultimately all possible explanations are possible until evidence shows any one of them to be untrue!

Science is still very much subject to the demands of critical thinking and logic!

I think suicide should be a legal option for people already suffering from a terminal illness, who have only weeks to days to live. I believe it is morally right to leave this world the way one would prefer, rather than to experience ongoing agony only to be followed by death.

However, I don't think most suicides are morally justifiable. There are people who go on living without limbs, or who can only transport themselves with a motorized wheel chair using nothing but their tongue. These people get through life just fine.

Suicide should be legal, but I would argue it should only be used for people who suffer from a terminal illness and are in their last days, or by people who are so incapable of getting through life that everyday is seriously one painful moment followed by the next.

Devin. This is my beef. If a person is going to claim that he isn't responsible for the actions of his government, then he shouldn't go on willingly participating in that government and being enriched by it, either!

At some point we have to draw lines!

A person can't have it both ways!

To willingly serve in a murderous government and to know one is serving in a murderous government, while simultaneously being enriched by it, makes you culpable for the actions of that government!

I disagree. Laszlo Csizsik-Castray signed up to work under the Nazi regime. He enjoyed being promoted in rank and enjoyed the fruits that came with his service. He is therefore completely culpable for the murderous actions of his government that he willingly participated in.

If he has any regrets now, he should have done more to protest the actions of his government! But he didn't; he served willingly and enjoyed the benefits.

He is guilty and is culpable in the criminal behavior he participated in--which directly led to the deaths of thousands!

No matter his age, no matter how regretful he is, he should face an international court for his war crimes and be sentenced for the crimes he's allegedly committed. If they warrant the death penalty so be it!

For the magnitude of crimes against humanity he allegedly contributed to, he should face a court! There is no statute of limitations for these kinds of bloodthirsty, evil acts!

Also, his lesson would serve as an example to every member, every despot in the world. It would serve as a learning experience to every other human being who has murder on his mind: If you murder someone, don't expect to avoid being punished for it. Justice will chase you down and you will be punished for it!

He is accused of intentionally killing many, many innocent civilians (more than 15,000) - both adults and young children. I'm sorry, but that means something. Punishment is necessary.

I'm sure the quiet old man is now calling out to God for mercy - the mercy he never offered to any of his agonizing victims! He wanted to construct a horrible world for mankind, and now - decades later - he will be paying a price for it.

(Hmmm . . . Europe doesn't have the death penalty, so I don't think he'll receive that sentence.)

Well, I believe that consciousness arises from the interaction of matter with space-time - so I don't believe things cease to exist completely when they die. It's more appropriate, I believe, to say that things "transform" when they die. Now, when I die as a human, I wont be a human anymore and I wont have memories of what I did as a human. I wont even contemplate things as I once did as a human.

Instead, I believe that I'll be broken up into a very primitive and primordial kind of consciousness. It wont be as creative or unique as life experienced as a human. But I will be in my most simple and primitive state. I wont be human and wont be one solitary thing anymore. But the conscious pieces that once added up to me will still be around, effecting the universe!

Like the Conservation of Energy and the Conservation of Matter, I guess this can even be stated as a Physical Law: the Conservation of Consciousness.

The only time energy and matter aren't conserved, according to current understanding, is when they convert back to each other. I suppose the quantity of conscious experience in the universe will also be effected by the transformation of energy into matter and vice-versa.

Those are wise words from the Buddha.

Being conquered by another group will always bring resentment. The only way something like this can possibly be rectified is if the conquering group recognizes the injustice it has done to the conquered group; in doing this it must also push for social and legal equality between itself and all other groups.

I believe no human group can live happily being treated lower than any other. Conflict will always result.

Many African economies are experiencing far better economic growth than what is observed in developed parts of the world. Some African nations are also experiencing net positive immigration and population growth!

If you need hard data you can look up stats in the CIA's online World Factbook:

https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/bc.html

It's an excellent source for this kind of information.

There are regions of Africa that are seeing net positive immigration and population growth. These nations include (but are not exclusive to):

-Angola (+2.78%)

-Benin (+2.8%)

-Cote D'Ivoire (+2%)

-Namibia (+0.75%)

-Rwanda (+2.7%)

-Zimbabwe (+4.38%)

-Botswana (+1.35%)

-Libya (+4.85%)

-some Western African nations

Sure, many developing countries around the world could use more growth. I'm not disagreeing here.

But many African economies are growing at rates far better than what is observed in many already developed nations - some of whom are actually experiencing negative growth!

The point is to say that African economies are expanding; as they do so does the quality of life!
