Okay, so this is how detention works:
So you get in trouble for a reason. Then you go to detention. You sit there and do nothing. People say it "teaches kids a lesson". Let me ask you this: Do kids really learn something when sitting in a classroom doing nothing? All it does is that it makes kids stressed out even more than what they did wrong in the first place. It keeps kids from their home for more time because they are in detention. That is bad because if kids have an emergency going on, they cannot go. I believe it is a bad thing and does not teach kids anything, in fact, it sometimes teaches kids less because if they have a program, club, or whatever right after school, they can't go to it because they are stuck in detention.
My point is that detention is pointless and does nothing good to the student.
