If you fight back... It means you had issues before and you did not try talking on them. So you did not negotiate at first place. So fighting back is a seperate issue then. Which comes after misunderstanding or not negotiating at first place.

Secondly, u gave the examples of leaders. Lets take for example mandela.. You should search some more, these leaders came to the table talks at the end, for negotiations. To find a middle path, that satisfies both the country's prosperity and the black community rights.

Negotiations does not mean to surrender completely or to beg or to show favour to others. It means to discuss the problem. If you make it a "life or death" situation, even then it means the person trying to kill you is not satisfied with you. He would not try to kill you at first place. So u can talk to him first, listen to his problem and tell yours. And look for a way so you both are satisfied. This is negotiating

A person becomes angry when he has nothing to say against an argument. so when u hit someone or abuse someone, this means u have already lost the argument.

and when u did fight, how did u end up? probably thinking that should have done that in easier way...?
