Guns have always been a part of the American idea of freedom. The writers of the constitution understood the need for militias and individual ownership of firearms as they had just come out of a revolution against an unjust and tyrannical leader. The necessity for ownership of firearms to stay as an individual right is present, in the case that US citizens should once again become oppressed in the same degree by the government and its leaders. If we have no way to defend our rights, what's stopping corrupt politicians from taking them?

If guns were to have stricter laws and become more regulated, people would still find ways to get them illegally. For example, cocaine isn't legal anywhere, yet people still get their hands on tons of it. The problem with this is, the majority of people that have a means of getting guns illegally are precisely the people that SHOULDN'T have them. So theoretically, that would leave all the bad people and felons with most of the guns, and the normal, law-abiding citizens without them. There would be no balance.

Sex is a very natural thing. It's instinctual to feel pleasure from it, and because of this people of a wide variety of ages have it, normally starting from high school. While there are many ways to prevent pregnancy, none are 100% full-proof. Raising a child consumes time and money, both things that high-school students and young adults don't have a lot of. With a child to take care of, it's highly unlikely a student can pursue their goals, especially in a field that requires a high degree of education like an MD which takes 10+ years to earn. Without legal and available abortions, a single accidental pregnancy can not only cost 1 or more students their life's goals, but also cost society the loss of potential workers for important jobs.
