At the very least the concept and idea of god is real. The thing the concept refers to, well by definition we cannot know, but rather have faith.
Money has bought out politics, politicians care more about their parties than their country, and the average person on the street is apathetic/uninformed, so they won't do anything to fix the matter, even if votes could fix the deep hole we've dug.
Makes for a fun narrative, but the movies are by no means an accurate representation of the real world.
3 reasons pro:
>you could upload your consciousness onto a brain analogue and live forever
>As things advance, the body of human knowledge begins to determine more of our phenotype than our actual genome, There may be a point when human brains aren't powerful enough to store all that knowledge, which would limit humanity technologically - so a computer that can augment or replace these highly evolved monkeys that carry around our minds could be useful.
>If P=NP and encryption becomes useless, your computer will need the ability to recognize you as a person to be able to keep your data safe.
Classical mechanics and relativity describe a deterministic universe - essentially if you know everything about the universe at one instant in time, then you can calculate everything about the universe through all time
Quantum mechanics says the universe is non-deterministic, which appears to refute the latter until you realize that all the possible combinations of events that can happen do happen, so it's just a branching tree of deterministic timelines.
Things do not look good for the concept of free will... but I hope it's a thing - it certainly appears to be a thing.
That there definition recursively defines intelligence as high intelligence... lolwut 0_0.
>Not sure what a chimera is in this case
>by some definitions, yes
>could be an error in transcription, you never know
>what I call "consciousness" and what you call the "soul" is known to form when the nervous system does.
Liver enzymes are not alive, they are proteins, not cells like gametes. They cannot self-replicate unless they de-nature into a prion, which they do not do when functioning properly. They are produced by ribosomes.
As mentioned, life is not the optimal metric to use, consciousness is
Well I mean, they're technically alive by the definition of life since the time that their mother was born, at least as an egg... They proccessed energy and performed all the basic things that most other cells do except replication, but they do have that capability. Birth is just a somewhat arbitrary milestone along the way, and perhaps not the best metric.
And besides we humans kill living things all the time, so why is it different with an infant? - because they are conscious/sentient/self-aware. Consciousness is more morally relevant to the matter than alive or dead.
I was raised by more "liberal" parents, but I've had lots of "conservative" friends and they honestly agree on more points than they'd be willing to admit. The distinction came to be because our voting system is flawed: http://www.youtube.com/
But more important at this juncture than what party we are, I think, is how well we can cooperate. Also, independent. Parties are too much of a sports mentality for me.
I am probably a good person but I haven't taken the time to fill out my profile, so you'll never know! |
