Productivity, not in general.

I don't think it will take over the PC market, but it has a very high viability in some situations for computing needs Ex. College students, Music/video production etc. like stated before.

Read more carefully before jumping to conclusions...

The first electric car came out almost 2 decades ago, and you're trying to say that it's advancing fine?

3 points

The concept of an electric vehicle has been around for ages(around the 1830's[ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_car#History ]), but has not progressed on to be overly available like gas cars today. For this reason the government should most defiantly intervene on some level to provide a foot hold for new cars that use all electric instead of gas. It's about time that we have some radical change to help change the way we use the planets energy on a daily basis, were just digging deeper and deeper in this anti-environmentalist hole.

If we can hypothetically terraform a whole planet then why can't we realistically save one to save our lifes?

for those who don't know what terraforming is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terraforming

Mars used to be a humid and hot place but with the help of future technologies a self sustaining and self reproducing robot could be sent to far away planets doing things like changing the atmosphere and temperature to create a more habitable planet. In my mind this is not too far off.

But to be able to reverse the effects on our home planet of global warming and such should be much easier than starting from scratch.

Shout something loud and long enough and people will start to believe you.

The hole in which your are describing does not exist; technology has always been to our benefit for the most part and always will. What does it matter if it is what keeps us going as a species obviously we will never really see the need to totally cut it from our life's, this would be an overwhelming/unneeded change in lifestyle of the human race.

Macs will eventually take over the computing market in terms of productivity. Mac book already have invaded the college life's of most students and have therefore shown they are better for such things such as word processing.

But the real question is...how does Linux come into play?
