This has nothing to do with democracy. People not showing their face can not inflict DEMOCRACY

To your first point, depression, anxiety, and obesity ( solely from social media addiction ) are side effects of social media addiction. Yet, based on an article published from SocialMediaAddiction.com only 5 to 10 percent of Americans are addicted. To put that into perspective - 10.5 percent of Americans are living below the poverty line; then, 12.3 percent of Americans have an insecure source of food. Considering the state of the country, 5-10 percent of addicted Americans would not hurt the democracy.

What do addiction, depression, anxiety, sleep disturbance, and obesity have to do with whether or not social media is good for DEMOCRACY? These are results of too much screen time but do not support the argument that social media is bad for democracy.

To start, social media is good for democracy because it helps mobilize supporters for a political cause. Examples of this include the Women's March of 2017, which was to promote a political message. In addition, the Arab Spring was another example of this, which was when millions of users of Facebook and other platforms promoted the protests against oppressive regimes and low standards of living.
