In addition, any biologist will tell you genetic diversity is one of the most important components to keeping a healthy population. Breeding for desirable traits will only limit the diversity of the human race and end up causing more harm. Look at dogs. Golden Retrievers, for example, have been bred very carefully to be the best looking they can be. However, limiting the gene pool has caused a lot of inbreeding and with it, a lot of problems, such as hip dysplasia, which is very common in Golden Retrievers now.

No, and it shocks me that so many people can be in support of it. First of all, how can we really forbid certain people to breed, just because their genes are perceived as weaker? Being sterilized contradicts the strongest, most basic urge in all humans: to pass on your genes. Secondly, even if people agreed that their genes were weaker and they should be sterilized, how do we determine who's genes are better? I can understand weeding out people with disabilities, even though it is incredibly inhumane, but where will it end? If someone is physically weak, should they be forbidden from breeding? Which genes will be prized over others? Eventually, you get to something like the Holocaust, where people are keeping only those who they believe to be the strongest, even if there is no proof their genes are any stronger than another persons.

The health benefits are obvious and important, but think about how it will limit genetic diversity. The long term effects on the human population may outweigh the benefits for individual people. We need weaker genes in the gene pool to keep evolving. We need to leave room for mutations.

Isn't it morally wrong to change a baby's DNA? Isn't this the same as saying to a little kid, "You aren't good enough the way you are."? Can you imagine telling a five year old, "When I was pregnant with you, I didn't like you so I just had you changed a little bit."

In addition, it would be incredibly bad for genetic diversity. Say blue eyes becomes the most popular physical trait. Then many people will alter their embryos to have blue eyes and the population of people with blue eyes will soar, possibly letting the other eye colors die out. This may seem insignificant, but think about it on a different scale.

That's ridiculous. There are just as many women fawning over their men and complimenting everything they do as there are men complimenting their women.

Also, women are insulted by men and other women far more often than they are complimented. If you are counting wolf whistles and the like as compliments then you clearly don't understand women. Being whistled at is insulting and makes women feel more like a dog than a confident, attractive woman.

Absolutely ridiculous. Most women are insulted or made fun of far more than they are complimented.

First of all, periods are incredibly painful, and you will never understand that. Secondly, there are plenty of women who enlist in the army only to be discriminated against and judged harshly.

Third, if you are actually saying all women should be Stepford wives you will be forever single. Those women are mindless and controlled by their husbands. Women have a right to the same opportunities and the same level of control as men. No woman should be subject to her husband's authority. As for the nagging problem, get over it. Maybe if you did what she asked you, she'd stop nagging you about it. It infuriates me when men complain about their wives being naggers, when they're actually annoyed because their wives aren't robots who obey their every command.

What, so because we have boobs we don't need to maintain our appearance. Bullshit. There is so much more pressure on women to look a certain way, which is why most of us take a long time on our makeup, hair and clothes, and are then made fun of for taking so long. In addition, women have to work hard all their lives to keep off weight, which is actually much more difficult for the female body. Plus, breasts are a major inconvenience. They may be attractive to men, but they require ridiculous underwear and hinder any sort of exercise. Life is not simple.

Okay first of all, it's break. Second of all, women definitely don't get emotional when they break a nail. Women often have longer nails than men, and when they break it's annoying and it stings, but we don't get "all emotional". That is the kind of stereotyping that makes women's lives harder.

3 points

A lot of what you said is completely ridiculous. First of all, assuming that your claim about culturally mandated gender roles is true, isn't it just as bad that women are expected to give up on their goals and stay at home to take care of the babies? Secondly, as many women want to work, much of the pressure to "bring home the bacon" has been taken off the men. Many women are their family's breadwinners. Thirdly, though wives are often stereotyped as naggers, it is not a valid claim. It is as ridiculous as saying that women are the cause of most divorces. There is no valid proof. It would be just as easy to say that women have it harder because husbands can't stand criticism. Finally, maternity leave is a very important privilege. When women get close to having their children, they must have time off work to ensure that they do not go into labor at the workplace or endanger their child's life by putting too much stress on their bodies before work. They also need some time off after they give birth because the child needs its mother as a food source, and childbirth is exhausting. The mother needs time to recuperate. In addition, the fact that women need maternity leave often makes it harder for them to get jobs. Employers are reluctant to give them paid maternity leave, so they often don't hire women who are, or they think may get pregnant.

In conclusion, your arguments focus too closely on stereotypes and not enough on the very real needs of either gender.
