Online debating would definitely triumph when it came down to whether it would be more interesting or not. Online, we tend to be able to express ourselves better than during real-life, when we have the tendency to stutter during presentation. The pressure felt from the audience as you do your debate makes online debating a big plus.
However, I still feel that classroom debating is much better. Within the class, the kind of atmosphere created during the debate can never be experienced online, where all you are facing is the computer screen. I feel that classroom debating would serve as a better opportunity for students to pluck up their courage and cultivate their speaking abilities, and to instill self-confidence in themselves as they deliver their points. Having self-confidence is extremely crucial when one has to step in to the real society and start working. It's also a way to stop computers and technology from dominating our world. Many students in our era tend to lack this, and I think we should find all sorts of ways to bring out the confidence from within. Nowadays, we can find almost anything just by switching on the computer. If even debating should be done online, then little can be done in real life!
So I'd say that classroom debating would be much more beneficial.
I am probably a good person but I haven't taken the time to fill out my profile, so you'll never know! |
