One teacher teaching one subject knows much more about it than you will have to therefore is more capable to explain it the basics or more. As a student you have to learn all of it so as to have average knowledge for future (basicly you will not look like idiot)
Presumably, if you will learn only one subject, you will know at max as much as your teacher.. well, I personally really want to be more educated.
Technically I am racist too. I believe race determines some of people's abillities, skills, etc, though I do not discriminate people. So no, I don't think racists are bad and should go to hell.. I believe only racists who apriori disciminate people should go to hell.
"Can't really argue here, but an ipad'll probably waste like none-percent of what those 'one damn paper books' will."
no, but also, Ipad really wont last forever, based on the creator's argument, the children damaged Ipads very soon.
I'm in college and I still can't get three months of use out of a pencil. Imagine what a kid'll do with that. Also starting your argument with 'no.' Fairly classy, Pepa.
I am in college as well and I can. ( one pen would cost maybe 1$? so 2 pens do not that much when you count 50 months?) and surely I can imagine what the kids will do with it, but also, they could do the same with iPad (according to the creator).
and no means - I disagree.. other thoughts?
"Well hopefully nobody's going to need to recycle these in the first place, though, sure, children."
Even if I did not take the fact they are children, I really do not know anybody whose mobile, tablet or PC is still in use after more than 4 years (most people buy new after 2-3 years, especially when they use it every day) so hopefully iPad in this environment will last 3 years? (new nbs in school lasted max 2 years before breakdown.)
"Gimme some sources for this. Kind of hard to buy into that if you're just going to make claims."
Based on chemistry and the process of making pure silicon, and other parts as well. well, do not have time for looking up exact infos, try this :

"This argument is complete bullshit"
thanks, who's aggressive?
"Trust me, adding technology into the mix isn't going to ruin it. In fact, it'll probably give the children less physical things to play with."
well can't exactly post you source from my country, co just say it: tests proved you are wrong. In several school were testing how can NBs improve learning - results were really horrible, students knew much less than their relatives year before. instead of learning they played games and didn't really pay attention to the teacher.
"You give a kid an electronic device like this that has a bunch of small little programs to help them study and give them little rewards and assurances whenever they get something right, then 'playing' with the thing's just going to end up being studying." They will never end up studying, at least I have not heard of such results when they were tested. And can't imagine teen who is VOLUNTARILY studying. (well geniuses might, majority wont though)
"I wouldn't let those things in any school I had a job in without a couple of locks on the various apps. Plus, you don't have to purchase any textbooks physically because -gasp- they're on the tablets. Even less paper wasted, and even less money the school has to spend"
It surely could work, BUT, like me, many people do not like reading on iPads and tablets because of eyes. they get tired faster when reading on tablets (not everyone's though), so this will not suit for everybody.
BTW I tried several those educational programmes at school and they are really horrible, they should be re-made first (again, I speak about environment in my country, so it might be relative)
hey buddy, I do not feel aggressive, this is just your impression for I dispute with you ;) so really, don't take it offensively.
Without war, there would be no technology, no internet, no modern age. War is always the carrier of progress in civilizations. If considered without war we didn't have medicine, vaccinations, internet connection, more people could have been dead from illnesses, late help and so, than in wars. The progress itself, stemming mostly only from war, would have been much slower... if there would be any civilization left.
No.
One damn paper-book will last for about 4-10 moths, one pencil 3-5 months - depends on using. now - "5 meter tree, with a diameter of 45cm can make 96,000 pieces of a4 paper" - so from ONE tree, you will get paper-books for one class for their whole time in schools. Ipad is full of electronic material which is NOT environment-friendly and its recycling must be paid, furthermore, it is much more expensive than paper-books. Lastly, NO,'Books and pencils and stuff' are NOT going to waste more resources, making Ipad costs much more water resources than making books.
And yes, children are more likely to play on Ipad than to pay attention to the teacher. when the do so, they will learn less than children paying attention. and learning is what the school is for.
I am probably a good person but I haven't taken the time to fill out my profile, so you'll never know! |
