History's important so you don't repeat mistakes made by others in the past. Look at the US right now. We were at the height of our power in WW2, then we got greedier and trying to be the world police, now we're not doing so hot. Just like what happened to Great Britain when it was at the height of its power. Or Rome when it was at the height of its power, it caved in on itself from doing too much too fast. But of course, history tends to repeat itself and now China's going to take our place if we don't do something about it.
TL;DR History's boring, yes, but important. This debate's options are pretty bad. Either "boring" or "gives more info," yet History is both to most people.
No. China's soldiers lack skill.
The US has about 1.5 million active soldiers, China has about 2 million active soldiers. Now, 1.5 mil highly trained soldiers, or 2 million soldiers that don't know how to fight? And besides, China forces a lot of people into their so-called army. I think it's what, the oldest person per family or something?
We also have the technology that is 20+ years ahead of China. An example is their new J-20. It won't be fully operational and in combat until approx. 2017-2020...it's clearly a rip-off of the F-22. The F-22 was in combat since the late 90's, and don't even get me started on tanks.
So here's how it sums up:
Guns: China
Numbers: China
Skill: USA
Technology: USA
Aircraft: USA
Money: China
Navy: USA
Overall, I'd say the USA would pretty much dominate the Chinese in a 1v1. If we include allies...well, that's off topic.
