The problem with most suicides is that the root cause can usually be treated. From a utilitarianistic perspective, it would be best to seek treatment to avoid having to put pain on everyone around. Often, when someone commits suicide, others feel responsible when they aren't. I've personally seen many people escape suicide simply by becoming more aware of the vast amount of opportunity in contrast to the few forces driving them towards suicide.
There are unimaginable things due to our rather weak communication methods. For example, a person blind will never be able to imagine a rainbow, a deaf person won't understand music, etc. However, there is one thing unimaginable across all humans, what happens after death. After millennia of contemplating, the best answer science has is well, nothing, which the human brain simply can't imagine.
Billions upon billions are already spent on cancer research, let alone the incredible cost of all the treatments. Even if we decided to increase the money dedicated to cancer, it likely wouldn't do much as many treatments still lead to uncertain outcomes. We would also lose money we could dedicate elsewhere, such as heart disease. (i.e It's a bad idea)
While the concept of fire acting like life is worth contemplating, there are a few traits that fire lacks in terms of calling it life. For example, all living things, on top of the traits you mentioned, are both autonomous and able to adapt to their environment. I personally believe that true life occurred during the time if the Cambrian Explosion if you want my take on it.
