Free will, in the absolute sense, would have to be an illusion. Note that God's word says that "their names are written in the Lamb's Book of Life from before the foundation of the world". And, "the Lamb who was slain before the creation of the world." That means that our eternal fates were sealed before the world was even created, and that Christ had died for us a sacrifice before we even existed. "God guides all of your footsteps". I assure you, we will each and every one, be at the appointed place at the appointed time for our own deaths. "Anyone who is destined for prison will be taken to prison. Anyone destined to die by the sword will die by the sword." Note the word "destined".
Of course! Not only is it injurious to the extreme for actual victims, it ruins the life of an innocent man. It is not much different than murdering someone by lying on them saying that they tried, or did, rape you. True justice would require that you do the same time that he would have received.
I think that Jonah pretty much made this a moot point. If God chooses one to do His bidding, you will do it, regardless of how you feel about the issue. Now, Jonah was a devout Jew who hated and despised the Ninevites, feeling that they were even unworthy of existing, so he avoided even going there. We all know the results of that fateful decision. He was eaten, partially digested, died, and was resurrected and vomited out on dry land in the sight of these hateful, warlike people. The fact that he was vomited out alive by the great fish (probably a Great White shark and NOT a whale) was testament enough to the veracity of his message.
I am probably a good person but I haven't taken the time to fill out my profile, so you'll never know! |
