Social media is not a good source of news. A very small portion of social media's news is true. The reason for this is that people simply find fake news more interesting so many more people see it. Lots of people also believe anything they see so rumors and conspiracies spread very easily. Reliable news platforms should be society's source of information.

I agree that that the Black Lives Matter movement was a positive movement that was helped by social media. However, aside from that there are statistics that show that fake news gets more views because people find it more interesting. Fake news about covid is very frequent and can cause people to prolong the process of covid that is heavily harming the economy and also human life.

I 100% agree that people are able to voice there opinions. However, that is part of the problem. People have just the same opportunity to say negative things on social media entirely without consequence.

I agree. There are many different conspiracy groups interacting on social media that spread rumors about the government or other things. This obviously takes a toll on our society because it causes less people to trust those in power.

It is true that there are cases of people having gotten help on social media. However, there are different things such as hotlines and support groups that have a much higher chance of not only ensuring support but it doesn't have the risk of hateful people showing up on the discussion. In addition, people might be trying to do the opposite of help the person which in turn could increase their trauma. -Sayeed Azam

Social media provides a place for bullying to thrive. I personally have seen people being racist, sexist, and just generally rude on both tiktok and instagram. That traces back to democracy because in order for society to function as well as possible, people need to be more united rather than against each other. -Sayeed Azam
