I would appreciate if you could be a perhaps a little more diplomatic when disagreeing with somebody on here, but I am not so sure that you know how to be. I quoted history because it happened. It's fact moron. I don't know if you haven't noticed but what has happened in the past helps us work towards the future; so the fact that the dissolution of the monarchy didn't work out too well IN THE PAST, then what good will it do now? Calm down and state your point with a little more dignity and then, just maybe, people will take your argument seriously.
Hmmm not sure on this one however, Nostradamus (the man who prophesised the end) has been right about a few things so far: the First and Second World Wars, the rise and fall of Hitler, the assassination of President John Fitzgerald Kennedy, the outbreak of the Napoleonic Wars and the fall of Napoleon himself. Ahh I dunnoooo, he may be right, but I guess we'll have to wait and seee.
I am for abortion. I believe that in certain circumstances it is acceptable; if the child is the result of a rape, the quality of life should be assessed not the quantity (say for instance the child will be born with a severe life-threatening illness), and if the mother's own life is in danger. Abortion is and should remain a completely personal choice.
No I do not "advocate murder" I am in disbelief that you are comparing abortion to the Holocaust.
Let me give you some scenarios concerning what you so lyrically describe as 'legal murder'. What if the child is a result of a rape? How can you expect the mother to raise a child fathered by a monster? What if the child's life is in danger? Quality of life should be assessed not quantity. What if the mother's life is in danger? That is not what I would call selfish- not all abortions are as a result of "selfish desires".
I can see your point of view from those who needlessly have unprotected sex and resort to abortion because the parents are merely children themselves.
Unborn babies are not regarded as "lesser humans"- how can they when they have not even been born yet? The Jews were labelled "sub-human" by Goebbels to strengthen Nazi propaganda and to ensure the continuation Hitler's Final Solution- as horrific as it sounds.
They do not "mutilate" the unborn babies- it is a simple tablet intake that performs the abortion- they do not literally pull the babies from their mothers. I doubt that the majority of the SS guards genuinely wanted to kill the prisoners, most wished for the freedom of choice not to so- but that would mean certain death for them and their families.
Okay, now I may be misinterpreting what you have just written but, did you just seriously compare the Holocaust to abortion? Yes some may consider abortion murder some do not (many see it as a free choice-which it ultimately is.) I don't think any of the Holocaust victims chose to die in such brutality, in such cruelty. To even think, in fact no, to even try to compare mass genocide to abortion is completely and utterly outrageous.
As to whether there will be another Holocaust- well, I fucking hope not. History does not need to repeat itself.
Compared to Great Britain I'd say we've given more throughout history; franchises, people, bands, inventions, books, businesses etc..
For example:
John Logie Baird- inventor of the television.
William Tyndale- provided the first translation of the Bible from Latin to English (for all you keen Xians out there ;))
William Shakespeare- (the immortal bard, need I say more?)
---and hello we gave you The Beatles!
J.R.R Tolkien- Lord of the Rings
J.K. Rowling- Harry Potter
Charles Darwin
Monty Python
Doctor Who
Fish n Chips ;)
Rolls Royce (aero engines of course)
Sainsburys
Sky
HSBC
Virgin Media
The World Wide Web- courtesy of Sir Tim Berners-Lee
Alexander Graham Bell- inventor of the telephone
The Sex Pistols
Cadbury's chocolate
Billy Idol
Charlie Chaplin
STEVE-O (for all you Jackass fans)
Jaguar
The Oxford Dictionary
Sir Alexander Fleming- discovered the life-saving drug Penicillin
A part of me would like to believe that there are such people with these kinds of 'gifts', but honestly, no I don't think there is. Watch Derren Brown's programme called "Derren Brown Investigates: The Man who contacts the Dead". Derren explains the concept of 'cold reading' and how it is used by "psychics" to perform a reading. It was an eye-opener for me so it will hopefully give you some more ideas on the specified topic of debate. Oh and yes, if you haven't already guessed... I love Derren's shows! :)
