Christianity has a inherent ability to contradict itself, which has made me lose all respect for the philosophy. Every good bit of christian philosophy pro's is so evenly matched with a con, that they completely cancel each other out.
Profanity is actually proven to release hormones that can ease pain. Say, you slice open your finger why trying to chop up that delicious steak you just grilled. Well, letting lose a line of glorious expletives will release hormones in your brain that ease the nerves that are dancing in your finger. Profanity will always have power as long as society gives it power. As long as humans continue to consider it as 'wrong' or 'bad manners', it will be used to point to that effect. My schools as a child allowed the children to use profane language, and I notice substantially less amounts of bad language from these people. It's a frame of mind, a stigma that surronds these english words. As soon as we reject that stigma, the usage of these words will dwindle into nothing. Already, we see this happening. Profanity is primarily used to express extreme emotions, not to target other peers.
There is also resources for children to download essays to turn in, resources to look up answers. The capability to cheat is rather 100%. It's an enabler at the moment.
As a student attending a school with required laptops(which are provided), and in a school where cellphones are typically out on a daily basis - I rather disagree. It is a brilliant idea, but I don't believe that there is enough control placed upon these devices. I can honestly say that - just using the lists the office have made - Facebook, Amazon, and Essay-now, are the top 3 websites that are visited. The moderating firewall that the school has implied upon us, is ridiculously easy to overcome. It's a good idea in essence, but in this society, most people use it as a distraction. I will not dis the good student that uses it appropriately, but in my experience most students are immature. Not to mention the extra costs that could be used for repairing the actual school itself, or the maintenance every year for these items. Its a hassle for everyone involved which is simply not worth it in this day and age when the numbers, witnesses, and grades all say its not appropriate at this time. I believe that in the future it will be used appropriately, but with the generations in control its not reasonable.
I am probably a good person but I haven't taken the time to fill out my profile, so you'll never know! |
