All information can be spread fairly easily. Like you said social media like youtube and Instagram don't require anything to broadcast. However, all of this information can be clarified from an original source by using social media. Social platforms allow us to contact reliable sources to credit the "real" or "fake" information.
Social media addiction is a problem but it breaking away from the addiction is more reliant on the person. Addiction isn't caused by a specific thing being " addicting" but is instead caused by a person not having enough restraint against said thing or activity. Obesity can be avoided and sleep disturbances can easily be avoided by addicts learning self-control.
Social media is effective for building a community to combat major crises. A virus in one nation can quickly spread to others. A conflict in one country can create a refugee crisis across continents. Having a group or platform where people can communicate and discuss ways to prevent further contagion has proven to be beneficial.
