I will have to answer in a couple again...

1) THE BIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT HAS EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW INSIDE THE TWO COVERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2) I believe that knowledge IS extreme power because you can always back information up with your knowledge. If you don't have any facts/knowledge, then you become a babbling giraffe and nobody will listen to you!!!!!!

Round 2:

3) I think that society should give them as much help as needed and possible without running their lives. Everyone has the right to run their own life, but we all need a little help along the way, sane or not.

4) I think that Lennie's death was justifiable due to the reasons stated in answer 1 as well as a few more.

a) Lennie was destined to die within a few more minutes and possibly in a more painful way by a mean man.

b) He might not have been in pain (besides knowing that George would give him heck), but he was putting that burden onto George and others who were trying to help him. This was physically and mentally injuring others.

c) George was trying to be his brother's keeper, but it was putting too much on him. Really on anyone. Lennie didn't have anyone who had his back constantly.

in the end, Lennie had no choice but to die, so George took it upon himself to do it.

I'm going to answer in 2 because I can't remember all the questions at once.

1) I believe that mercy killing is justifiable and reasonable in some circumstances. If a person is in mental or physical pain that isn't curable and living becomes a painful struggle, then i believe mercy killing is okay for someone close to them to do. I don't think someone that isn't close to the person should kill them, it should be a close relative or a friend that knows them well.

2) Our elderly people should be taken care of by their children/family. If they don't have any family and are not capable to take care of themselves, then they should be moved to some kind of nursing home or somewhere else where someone could take care of them.

I think that I will enjoy this book. The first chapter seems to be the start of a deep and thought-provoking plot. I think that George and Lennie seem to be bonded close enough for George to be Lennie's keeper. So far "Of Mice and Men" seems to be a delightful book of compassion and trust. (And rabbits)

To be your brother's keeper, you first have to become part of their soul. It's a two way street. Once you are close enough to a persons heart that you can become their keeper, a bond of support and 'keeping' is made. Then becoming your 'brother's' keeper is a choice. This is a personal decision that needs to be made by everyone, independently. Without people choosing yes, our world would be a painful, ongoing war of hate and anger. I am many of my 'brother's' keeper. It is a necessary part of life.
