When I was a youngster my dad had a very simple solution to any such problems with concentration.
If i was supposed to be sitting down but instead was running around, he simply pulled out his belt and I sat down really quickly.
If i wasn't paying attention in class and i got in trouble, he was standing at the door with his belt when I got home.
If i wasn't following directions, he pulled out his belt.
ADHD is just an excuse for parents that don't discipline their kids properly. I say reinstate corpral punishment in schools and I guarantee those kids will be cured of their "ADHD."
yeah but last time i check, children are supposed to be in the backseat due to air bags so if children are wearing seatbelts there ok and if the adults aren't well then they can go flying through the window. Just one less idiot left in the world.
"Plus, how do you think jobs are created? They are created by magical fairy dust. Are they created by government? Sure some. But the majority of jobs are created the wealthy."
"The rich own the small businesses that create the jobs," Obama's critics say. "The rich are the engine of growth."Well, excuse me, but on this planet what we've seen in the last couple of years is a lot of rich bankers and other unscrupulous speculators and con artists (they don't really deserve the dignified title of business people) destroy jobs on a gargantuan scale.
And back when the rich were creating jobs, those jobs weren't so wonderful. Just how many jobs created by the construction of condos, shopping malls and SUV production does this country really need at a time when our bridges and schools are falling apart, when millions don't have health insurance, when our energy system is based on 19th Century technology, and when we're starving our scientists and teachers?
The rich are no longer in a mood to create even lousy jobs. They are taking what's left of their riches and fleeing to the safety of treasury bills. They are still trying to figure out if their asset managers were funneling money to Bernie Madoff and other crooks.
When private demand and investment collapse, the government has to step in and boost its own investment in our future. Fortunately, the government intends to invest in things we really need like education, science, infrastructure, health care and renewable energy. Frankly, that's better than video games and hummers and all the other crap that Americans buy when we get to keep our own money.
What supply-siders don't seem to understand is that government jobs are not a dead weight on economic growth. If we employ more teachers and firefighters and peanut-butter-factory inspectors, they will take their paychecks and go to the mall and buy the crap that private investment tends to favor. Vital services and crap can coexist.
Any decent country needs a balance between public and private investment. Yes, if the government runs everything, you get a dreary Soviet-style morass that makes almost everyone poor. But the starve-the-government-to-death (except for the war machine and corporate welfare queens) philosophy of the Bush era was leading us to a situation in which the rich were counting their dollars in gated communities, while the rest of society was going to hell -- even while enjoying the video games.
Thank goodness that the trickle-down economy collapsed from its own incompetence and corruption. Thank goodness the American people elected Barack Obama to rebuild a society we can be proud of.
Actually, it is a rational assumption because an assumption is a proposition that is taken for granted, as if it were true based upon presupposition without preponderance of the facts. (Ex: Mike like blueberries, he also likes pie, therefore he likes Blueberry Pie.) It is rational to say that do to the fact the you have a swazstika on your profile picture that you PROBABLY are racist. which is just an assumption, i'm not saying that you are indeed a racist.
"Just because he cannot pass any new laws does not mean he cannot enforce the ones that are already on the book."
Must of these laws that you want him to enforce are bull shit. When he tries to make laws that will be better, the Republicans block any sort of progress.
"He did, that's why it is on my list of ways Obama = Bush."
Let me restate that in actuality Bush's response was worse then Obama's, Bush was told by the Govenor of Louisana as well as the Mayor of New Orleans that the leevees would not hold prior to Katrina but did nothing, it hit New Orleans on Monday and Bush overflew the devastated area on Air Force One as he traveled from Texas back to Washington, D.C. on Wednesday and wasn't briefed about the situation until he arrived at the Gulf Coast on Friday. Thats a week of doing nothing even though he had already been told prior to Katrina that the leevees would not hold.
The oil spill that is occuring right now however was not predicted and Obama was told by BP that it was not a serious problem and wasn't told that the leak was in fact serious until almost a week later.
Bottom Line: Obama didn't know, Bush didn't even care.
"Actually, Bush was the one who passed the first bail outs and in 2003 he tried to regulate Fanny and Freddie but the Democrats blocked him."
The recession started around December of 2007 so Bush's bail outs didn't do shit. As for the Democrats blocking Bush from Fanny and Freddie, the Republicans are doing the same thing now with Wall Street.
"Presence of guns around us just provide an acceleration to this kind of a thinking and encourages us to act upon him and kill that person."
All that means is there is two less idiots in the world. Wait let me rephrase that, one less idiot and one less person that has the tendencies to commit murder.
win win in my opinion.
And Virginia Tech was not an "incident," it was a massacre. If all the students had also had guns then there is no way that asshole could have killed as many innocent people as he did. My condolensces to the families of the victims.
