It's the Mayan calendar (just saying), and the end date is the end of their cycle. The Mayans believed that another cycle will simply begin December 22, 2012. Anyone who says that the world will end is simply supporting the stupidity that infects the human population.

I debate theists because my life is effected negatively by theists everyday. The pledge of allegiance, U.S. currency, government benefits for married male/female couples, all of these things have religious influence even while they shouldn't. The interference of Religion with my daily life is why I debate theists.

Care to point out a single prediction? I doubt you could, given there is not a single thing to be taken as true from the Bible.

There is no Joey Jordison without John Bonham, Neil Peart, and Keith Moon. In my opinion out of the 3 classic greats, Bonzo was the best. Peart was very precise about everything, and Moon is a monster, but Bonzo's natural feel and power takes out the others to me.

If anything, I'd say most atheists are quite the opposite of cynical. By accepting the fact that there is no life after this one, you learn to live each day to the fullest and get all of the joy out of life that you can. If there's no happyhappyplayground (heaven) to go to when you die, then why not make sure you enjoy everything there is while it lasts? Human life is but a small speck of dust when compared to the lifespan of the cosmos, personally I want to gather as much knowledge as possible to pass on the next generations in an effort to be able to answer the questions that drive the human race.
