I agree because he was defending himself and Ponyboy was about to drown and die, he did the best he could have done.
I believe Johnny had a reason to kill bob in the park. In the book, it mentioned that anytime that the Socs would try to beat him up again, he would use his switch blade to hurt the Socs because of when they beat him up. Johnny also is justified since the Socs were about to drown Ponyboy, he saved Ponyboy by killing Bob. If Johnny wouldn't have killed Bob, Ponyboy would be dead, that's another reason why he is justified for committing this act.
