As the teacher of this class, I must say that the fact that you would fiscount a student's research just because it is in disagreement with your viewpoints and then stereotype their geographiv location based on this just shows your complete ignorance. I teach my students to examine multiple perspectives, and draw their own conclusions. If that is not a form of education you are OK with, there are plenty of other narrowminded one-sided debates on this side for you to partake in. Creating a legitimate argument is one thing, but casting judgments on others is not what a GOOD debator does. I stand behind my students, regardless of their opinions on this issue, because I am building a generation of students who will be able to think for themselves, and that is far more impotant than which side of the debate they choose to stand on.
Well, yes, I say to back all claims with research. However, remember that since neither side can be completely proven, there is part that is going to be based on opinion, and therefore be emotion based. Emotion is Ok, because it creates passion, as long as it is backed by some sort of data, research, or information
You are close to being correct regarding your first statement. However, the truth is that I am a teacher, and I created this debate for my students as a homework assignment. So it is a homework assignment...I'm just the one that assigned it. lol.
