"religious" people give to charity because God says to...and yeah, dont you want a reward from God?

God doesnt reward ignorance and punish logic..Hes just merciful enough to give atheists and everyone else a chance to repent...if he had no mercy, we wouldnt be here, and neither would this website..now, take some time to think about that! :)

um, mental capacity is irrelevant, because if children are taught a religion, when they hit adolescense, they can choose what they believe and what they dont...

That depends, as long as the religion is the right one.. cough Christianity cough then its fine...but they have a choice..they dont have to believe it! :)

um, hate to be the voice of reason, but, why waste my tax money feeding, housing,clothing, and guarding dangerous criminals such as murderers or rapists, when one bullet will punish them all the same!

what the government teaches is definitely capable of being considered as a religion, but a government has to start these teachings at some point. those strong in their faith will most definitely see the flaws and differences between their beliefs and what they are being told are their beliefs...thus they will be indifferent to what the government says and teach their children their beliefs, who will more than likely spread it. thus, religion always exists! :)
