I agree that reading is very important for teenagers.

Firstly, it helps us to develop our language skills and also help us to listen; it helps us to focus on what someone is trying to communicate. Misunderstandings mostly occur because people do not listen to explanations which lead to job loss, marriage breakup, and other disasters - small and great.

Secondly, it is the basic for us to inquire to knowledge. Books, magazines and even the Internet are great learning tools which require the ability to read and understand what is read. We live in an era where we are overflowed with information, but reading is the main way to take advantage of it.

Lastly, it helps us to develop our imagination, different from watching movie where each scene are clearly shown to you, reading brings you anywhere in the world...or even out of it! We can be a king, or an adventurer, or a princess, or... The possibilities are endless. Non-readers never will experience these joys in the same extent.

Therefore, reading is a vital skill in life.

Also, I agree with Wesley that reading helps develop vital language skills and is needed in our school lives, as well as our adult lives. Many well-paying jobs require reading as a part of job performance. There are reports and memos which must be read and responded to. Poor reading skills increase the amount of time it takes to absorb and react in the workplace. A person is limited in what they can accomplish without good reading and comprehension skills.
