it is dependent on the general maturity level of the population as well as how well-informed are they in the required area. unless they are well-read and updated and able to see things from various perspectives, i don't think at the tender age of 16, they are able to make mature and important decisions yet.

Personally, I don't think youths today are very much equipped with sufficient knowledge to vote on the more crucial subjects like general elections.

"Great" authors like Conrad, Twain, Tolstoy, and Dostoyevsky may have their works set as literature texts in other institutions, but it may well as Shakspeare's works are more widely discussed and analysed which make them more widely taught.

Personally, I believe that once one has gotten over the barrier of "not understanding his language". one can then see the beauty in them and see that it should have been taught earlier rather than later so as to build in a better understanding.

No, I do not believe that Shakespeare should ONLY be taught at university/ colleges.

Students should be exposed to Shakespeare as early as possible, to make them better able to appreciate Literature. After all, there is absolutely no reason why it should be taught at the Uni level and not in high. elementary school.

Here, in Singapore, Shakespeare is taught in elementary and high schools. It has allowed pupils like me to better appreciate Lit as a subject and see its beauty. Also, by teaching it earlier, the beauty of Shakespeare works can be better preserved. As students move on to Uni, they may be more interested or preoccupied with other subjects.

Personally, I feel that abortion should remain legal, or rather, parents should have the power to make the decision themselves and not face any legal hindrance of any form.

Let us take a look from the social perspective. If parents cannot afford to provide for the child, or if the family is facing financial constraints, it is thus understandable that abortion can remain as one of the options. The unborn child's suffering can be prevented; the family can have lesser burden. Problem of poverty can be reduced. Look at Africa.... ARGH I shall continue later :P

Being original thus means being creative and unique in the way one expresses one's ideas and opinions, in one's style. Lets take a look at our media today. While cliched storylines dominate the Hollywood industry (ie the two age old stories tha twon't change: boy gets girl; boy loses girl; man triumphs over evil; man is defeatd by evil), new genres have popped up as well, such as Power Women Chic (Sex and the City).
