Guns add emotional stress to the students. Imagine, whenever you misbehave during lesson time, the teachers can shoot you. How is a student going to pay attention in class under such a situation? Moreover, teachers are not trained to use a gun as well as a police, and misfiring may result in unnecessary deaths. We understand the point that some students may be over-rebellious, but using a gun to threaten a student could potentially fuel xenophobic effects.
Some may argue that teachers have to carry guns for self-defence, as for certain more liberal society, anyone including students could be carrying guns. However, we should not be overly-paranoid as not everyone carries guns to school. In fact, the responsibility of carrying guns should be placed under the school security as well as policemen, and not the teachers.
