Maybe you need some help with this. Let me see if I can break it down for you.

Homophobia is a range of negative attitudes and feelings toward homosexuality or people who are identified or perceived as being lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender (LGBT).

Bigot:One who is strongly partial to one's own group, religion, race, or politics and is intolerant of those who differ.

I am neither of these things and oppose same sex marriage. It doesn't matter if i am against it because I am one big ol' baby who is terrified of the bullies. It doesn't matter if it is weak, or if it is because I am afraid of what the bullies will do to my uncle. The point is that YOU CAN BE AGAINST SAME SEX MARRIAGE WITHOUT BEING A HOMOPHOBE OR A BIGOT!

AND ALSO....You may not think it is far fetched to label someone for their beliefs but to that I say How many times did you label me or make judgments about me based on one of my beliefs? Because I believe that is a perfect example of a bigot. You may need to refer back to the definition. Not to mention you are treating me the same way gays are being treated by the "average" against same sex person. I don't believe Gays should be bullied and I don't believe I should be bullied for my beliefs either. Just like gay people, you don't have to understand my beliefs but there is no need to belittle people for their beliefs. Just as I hope that my uncle is not belittled for his!!!!

First of all, I am answering the question "are you automatically a bigot if you oppose same sex marriage." It doesn't ask how is it possible to to oppose same sex marriage and not be a bigot.

Second, I never said that I believed in God or the Bible. Again, this is another assumption you made. I was not trying to "avoid a label" by using the word Religious. I do not believe in the Bible.

Ok fine then I will say this....i Oppose same sex marriage because of politics, fear and religion. Maybe it is fear of religion. Maybe it is fear of politics of religion. Maybe I am afraid for my uncle that I love so much. The hate he will receive from others even though he isn't trying to get married.

Maybe you the person who calls me a bigot for opposing same sex marriage are doing the very same thing that they are doing. Discriminating and labeling people based on their beliefs. Maybe you don't know my motives at all. Maybe I am a good person who is concerned for these people and not hating these people.

I find it funny that I was just arguing against you (Mackindale) on another debate and yet I found myself agreeing with everything you said in this argument before I even realized it was you that I was agreeing with:)

This is exactly what I am talking about. Just because I did not state what my political reasons are then I am lying? Look at all the judgments you made about me. The reason I decided not to state my reasons is because that is not what this debate is about. Maybe you would like to start a debate on this subject.

you can be pro-life but also believe people have the right to choose. For Christians who are all pro-life you need to remember that according to your faith God knew what that girl was going to do when he put that baby in her belly. He put it there anyway. If we take that girls right away to choose for herself girls will be choosing life because they were forced to not because they chose that it was the right thing to do. You are eliminating an opportunity for her to find God by making that decision on her own.

Absolutely not! That is crazy!! I don't support same sex marriage and it has nothing at all to do with not liking gays. My favorite uncle is gay. He calls me a "breeder." And while I am sure he supports same sex marriage for others I know he doesn't want it for himself. I reasons for opposing it have nothing to do religion, or my spiritual beliefs or my personal feelings about gay people. Even I am know to appreciate the beauty in both sexes. There are political reasons for opposing same sex marriage. People should educate themselves before making such serious claims about people. It is very damaging for us to treat each other this way.

I believe you may not understand evolution. When you look up evolution in the dictionary (quoting thefreedictionary.com) It has the defitinition separated into different meanings.

This is the first definition. This definition of evolution is fact. We see these things happen everyday. If you read anything about animals you will find that all of them have changed to adapt to their changing surroundings. Those that don't are likely to die off.

Now after this definition they have the Biology definition and the Mathematical definition. The Biology definition says this:

b. The historical development of a related group of organisms; phylogeny.

This is where the belief that the world began as a result of organisms changing and developing into better versions which led to the beginning of the world.

I personally do not believe this his how the world began and I do believe that God created us.

I think there is a lot of confusion on this topic because of these different definitions of evolution
