A standing army will protect the liberty that we are building for the people. They cannot enslave the population with the funding they will receive plus they wont be reimbursed until the next election. The central government could take action and disband the army/ destroy the army if such oppression were to occur. We are trying to protect our citizens and the communities we will build,not repeat history and have another cruel army like Britain.
As a federalist I believe the ability to have a standing army even during peace time will give more security to the livelihood of the states since they wont have to rely on untrained citizens to take up arms in defense. This creates job opportunity's for citizens interested in the country's well being and the government has the ability to focus on more relevant issues to satisfy the needs of all sides affected by said issues
