This statement is untrue in my opinion, because it does not help develop the community. At least not at this point. On a long term it might give way to some jobs for locals of Pungesti, but I don't think there will be many, as I suppose fracking is not an everyday job any farmer can learn.

Furthermore, the environmental damage this process can cause, added up to the loss of land to live on for the locals, probably weighs up to the economical benefit it may have according to Obama. That is, for now. In the future these sort of solutions might be preferred.

In my opinion employers shouldn't select their employees based on Facebook profiles. Of course it is to some extent a depiction of the truth, but you never know to what extent. Old school interviews should be the one and only means of evaluating a potential employee.

In my opinion what the NSA is doing is violating privacy rights. Spying on the public for the sake of our own good sounds like an excuse to know what everyone is up to and use the information for business goals and political strategy. However, on the other hand this is the world we live in now, I don't see this system dissapearing any time soon.. given that a big part of the world is on the internet, and has to registrate their every step in life. So in short, no I don't think the actions of the NSA are legitimate, but I also think this about a lot of other stuff which is also deeply nestled in our current system and will take a lot to change.

I agree with this point, personal branding can greatly benefit you when used correctly. It's always good to sell your best points or otherwise why would they hire you and one of the other 10 waiting applicators. Therefore knowing your own strong assets can benifit your own carreer but also the organization, as a company with strong employees becomes a strong company itself.

When I think about the international aspect of studies like ours, I think of subjects like International Law, International culture, Globalisation etc. But on top of that we were also thought about things like economics, marketing and management all on a global level. So in that way I do believe we were prepared primarily for the international market. Speaking for myself, I know I'd rather work abroad or in an international environment, and I think having done the study ICM supports this.

I don't think sustainable businesses are THE best weapon in solving environmental crisis, I think a lot more is necessary to even begin to fight back the pollution and damage that humans are creating. However, it seems logical to think that because the big businesses are creating this overproduction, waste, and pollution, that they are also the ones to make it stop. I think it would be significant step into the right direction, however I don't believe this is going to happen. Businesses want to make profit and they often cross lines (think of the many proven cases of bribery, fraud, tax evasion, privacy breaches, and violating human rights of employees) in order to keep increasing their profit. Therefore I think it would take a global change of mindset to get companies like this to change their practice for the benefit of the environment.

All with all, I think it would take a LOT to change the ways of big businesses. To state an alternative to solve the environmental crisis is to use the media to spread information about what's happening to the planet (partially being caused by mega corporations), and to inform people about ways to improve.

I don't think it produces the same personal connections or relationships than real face-to-face communication.. There are a whole range of communicational features you are missing; like body language, eye and body movement, facial expressions, etc. Also tone of voice, loudness etc helps to establish the communication and if these things are not present things can be misunderstood.

To add up to what most people here are saying, I think the most likely reason for media misreporting and spreading untrue information, is that they want to be the fastest and first to report about the happening. They use sources that haven't been double checked or don't stop to think about the consequences.. (like the boston bombing, causing people to falsely accuse people of a horrible crime)

I think if an image speaks 'a thousand words' it does not need additional information or background. Some pictures are so carefully and professionaly composed and thought through, that you know what it is about. This can be the case as well with fashion images. When the right elements are added in the picture one will know what it is about.

However I think you need pretty strong directing in order to produce such pictures. So I guess it depends on the situation.

If by lacking skills such as writing and doing math, you mean the loss of authenticity in schooling, then I heartily agree with you, Sudi! However I think that apart from being a whole new way of education, that schools like Steve Jobs schools also are a collaboration with traditional education. I assume writing will still be learned using pen and paper, but that the iPad comes into action for educational apps, learning games, as a portfolio, and as a social platform. There are countless of possibilities all stored into one single device.

Could you elaborate a little bit on what you mean by 'multimedia tools could lead to children lacking in other abilities'?

As to your comment of slacking off, I think this is already an unstoppable truth. How many kids these days walk around with smartphones in their pockets?

Lastly, I am not sure if 'pushing children into developing a talent' is what is done on these schools. I believe it's merely a coaching, recognizing the student's own capabilities and stimulating and supporting them. I don't know exactly how this comes to practice, but this sounds like a perfect way to stimulate a student into becoming what they personally want to be.
