conditioning is not * evolution..........................

Agreed that conditioning is evolution and that people without technology, etc. do not prefer it. But if our NATURAL state is neither the wild nor society like you are claiming, why have humans come so far and developed so much as a materialistic society? If our natural state is simply being, why were we not content with living in the wild? Why do we not still live in caves and hunt for food? If old people were once content with a lack of technology, why make changes? ...Because we have naturally come to find better ways of living in our own man-made world.

Society = structure and structure = preference

sorry that was meant to be a dispute...............................................................

From an evolutionary standpoint, humans have grown in becoming more and more reliant on technology, government, etc (aspects of society). Evolution being a natural process, humans have NATURALLY become inclined to gravitate towards structure. That is why the citizens of the United States prefer their current states of living. Few turn their back on society and venture out into the wild because it is so chaotic and vast. Those who do are very rare exceptions.

Do you believe that humans should/could exist in the wild BECAUSE it is our natural state? Having been so adapted to the structure that today's society provides, do you think nature is too much of an overwhelming force for today's humans? Would we be able to survive? When individuals escape from their lives and travel in Alaska for a time, do they trully "find themselves"?

Humane? Obviously the guillotine because, like everyone already stated, one does not feel pain. Righteous? Electric chair. If a man has caused so much destruction in his life to deserve a death sentence, then he hates himself enough where a painless beheading could be desired. On the contrary, the electric chair lets him feel some redemption for the pain and destruction he caused others. Maybe not on a fully equal basis, but it's a start.

Winning Position: Is humans' natural state in the wild or in 21st century society?
