Christmas isn't about money, its about love, family, relationships and religion. The amount it costs is irrelevant. America and Americans are so deeply in debt another couple of thousand here and there isn't going to make any difference.
2009 is going to be a horrible year for a lot of people anyway, with increased foreclosures, more job losses etc.. - let us at least face into it by having one good party!
America is deeply in debt (10 trillion), Americans are also individually in debt. Christmas is an expensive time of year when people spend loads of money on presents (which may or may not be appreciated).
A lot of money spent in America is on goods not manufactured there - so your Santa dollar ends up in the profits of other countries.
We SHOULD cancel Christmas (or at least, the present giving side of it), so that more American money is kept at home, credit card debt isn't increased even further and people will not face an even worse 2009 than they would otherwise.
So, lets just cancel the holiday and all the commercialism that goes with it. Bah, humbug!
I am probably a good person but I haven't taken the time to fill out my profile, so you'll never know! |
