I've just browsed the interenet about this issue, and there seems to be a lot of hatred going against tool fans, against their supposed "superiority" and the "supeiority" of the band itself.

Tool is my favourite band, before listening to it i used to never listen to vocal music. Tools lyrics are my main reason for why i think it could be the best band. There is a lot of band that i appreciate instrumentally and there is no doubt, some are phenomenal, but the lyrics do not represent anything so meaningful as tools lyrics do. Not to say there isnt a lots of great songs around but the artist dont often offer this quality as consistently as tool does. I bet there is a lot of mambojumbo interpretation of ther songs searcing for though-origin in maynards life, they dont matter to me much, what matters is what is my interpretation. To me what is unique about tool lyrics the rarity and variety of the subjects, maynard doesnt just sings about things but about the underlying nature of things, about the nature of man, about human condition, about contradictions in the value systems about cultural and sociological issues about eternal, about altered states of consciousness. In addition the lyrics are exceptionally well married with amazing instrumentation(in my taste) . If you dont find tool lyrics as meanigfull and you think is like all the rest, well what can say.. to me the major difference with the rest is like to say ... the rest is angry, but the tool is angry for a reason.. and i appreciate the clear recognition of this reason.

ok thats enough from me.. search for the reason, because it is the only saviour ,together with love but there is reason for love :P . search within!!, happiness to all of you people!!
