Kuwait caused oil prices in the middle eastern region to drop rapidly due to overproduction. They went against the quota set by the internationally recognised OPEC and kept producing oil to sell at a low price. Iraq, who was dependent on sale of oil to support themselves now faced the problem of low oil prices. They were not able to earn as much as before and thus in order to repair their country, had no choice to invade Kuwait.

Then can you tell me, you have a long lost brother/sister. Would you rather hear their voice through a phone call, and pay the phone bill, or just see some words in a chat box?

Yes social media is faster, but we can never see the actual sincerity as compared to face to face.

Have you then ever made a friend online? As part of cyber-wellness, i feel that the friends on facebook that we have, are people met in real life. Also you said that socail networking sites are used for new discussions. Thus so they are for work, and not socialising.

Yes they interact together occasionally. But maybe you have missed out the fact that they gave their smartphones with them and are probably surfing facebook. Talking during meal times have become limited as more people are addicted to social media

isn't that the point. Socail Media have made us focus so much on it that we do not observe the people around us

We spend more time indoors, cooped up with our macs, thus so we spend lesser time with family and friends

In my opinion, i feel that Social Media has made us less social. According to statistics, the number of tweets that Singaporeans posted up, at 0.88 million, is ranked 12th in the world. Despite our small population as compared to China, the amount of tweets that we have far outnumber them. Also, ask any regular facebook user. How much time do the spend online? Probably at least 3 or more hours. Not counting time in school, i feel that we spend far too little time with friends. Social Media has made us less sociable.

Raffles was trying to solve the problem of disease, Farquhar directed his solution to the source of the disease.

And can U give me an example to what Raffles did for Singapore?
