I don't think it really does. I think it emphasizes existing tendencies rather than making people one way or the other. The person who spends all day on their social media might have spent all day watching TV back in the day. The more social people are the ones who will use social media the most.

I think it depends on the people. If people are sitting at a table in a restaurant, all staring at their phones and not interacting with each other, yes they are less social. However, people can talk with each other about what they see, read articles, send pictures to each other. Then it brings them together.

I'm going to support the yes side, with some reservations. First of all, little kids don't need to use it. I really think kids much under 12 should be climbing trees, riding bikes and playing in the mud, rather than rotting in front of a computer.

That said, I think middle school age kids can use it as long as there are strict guidelines and clear consequences for deviating from them.

I'm against the militarization of the police. Thanks to the War on Drugs, you have SWAT teams ramming in people's doors at 4 AM and holding them at gunpoint in their own homes. Police go onto private property, sans warrant, and shoot dogs in their own backyards, even those that are already tied up! There was a case recently where an 11-year-old girl was held at gunpoint while in the shower by a SWAT thug during a drug raid, for a person who didn't even live at the house anymore!

It's gotten out of control and needs to stop before we're nothing more than a third world dictatorship.

Old enough to vote and die for your country? Old enough to do as you please.

Unlike people born after 2000, I can actually remember the pre-Internet world. Technically, the Net EXISTED, but so few people had even heard of it, that for all intents and purposes, it didn't exist. The only things to do back in the day were to go out somewhere: shopping, movies, restaurants, the park, bike ride, long vacation, etc., watch TV, read a book, play games or do... other things... Ahem!

Since I was a kid, my time was spent mostly watching TV, reading books or riding my bike. When I got older, I added listening to the latest top 40 bubble gum pop music to that repertoire.

The thing is, now that I've been using the Net for the past 16 years, I don't know how I got through my childhood without being bored to tears. I just know that if I had to give up the Net and all the fine tech gizmos that have exploded in just the past ten years, I'd just die of boredom! I'd ever so much rather watch YouTube than just sit in front of the TV. At least on YouTube, I can pick whatever video I want to watch, whereas with TV, you simply have to watch what's on at the moment, unless you have DVDs, but you can only watch those so much without getting bored.

So yeah... In conclusion, I'd say that while I could probably survive without the Net, I wouldn't enjoy it very much!

As much as I love the Net, I'd have to say the printing press because it's what really got the ball rolling and made literature available to the masses. One could argue that without the printing press, there wouldn't be an Internet in the first place.

This is a very complicated issue.

On one hand, I say no because I believe censorship runs counter to the First Amendment protection of freedom of speech and the press, both of which fall under the purview of the Internet.

On the other hand, I would hesitantly say yes because of the case where some second graders in California were caught looking at porn on their school issued iPads. http://dailycaller.com/2015/02/14/guess-what-americas-second-grade-boys-are-using-their-school-issued-ipads-for/

I like Android better because of the greater flexibility. If you don't like how it looks, you can reskin it with a launcher like Nova, Go, or Apex. If you really want to get creative, you can root your phone and install custom kernels and ROMs on it.

I say no. We didn't have uniforms and dress codes when I was in school and we got through it just fine.

Winning Position: It should remain at 18.
