There are both pro and cons of having homework. Some pro's are:
- Increases memory & academic levels
- Homework gives parents an opportunity to see what their children are learning in school
- Students learn responsibilities on an educational level
- Teaches students how to work individually
- Homework teaches students the importance of planning, staying organized and taking action.
While there are some cons:
- If too much homework is received, the student can suffer from depression
- Sometimes doesn't improve school activities
- Time could be used to relax or do chores
- Reduces family time
- Too much homework encourages the technique of copying
- Sometimes teachers don't have time to grade all of the papers
As you can see there are many pros and cons. I think students should receive a minimum amount of homework. For example, that student could have 5 teachers and each of their homework is a 1 hour long packet. That reduces the time of sleep, family, and chores. This causes depression and lack of school participation. The technique cheating is then encouraged. If the homework was reduced to 25-30 minutes each teacher, the chances of this is reduced, but not by a lot.

I think it is important to US history in ALL grades because, we learn about past events that were very important. For example slavery is an event on how us (African Americans) were migrated. I believe something bad/horrible happened to every race in history if not it is going to be made. But they never talked about on how our ancestors were kings and queens as said by my fellow teacher. Also if we never knew anything about history our minds would be completely blank about the past. We would have numerous questions.
