In order to have a functioning society, I believe that government is a necessity. This is true because we would have no regulations, no military, and no government services to protect us. First of all, no government regulations would be in place. The government regulates water quality, food, and employers. If there wasn’t government then we would

have dirty water, potentially harmful food, and there would be no minimum wage and there would be unsafe workplaces. Next, we wouldn't have a military to protect our country. Without a military, we wouldn't be able to protect ourselves and we wouldn't be able to attack countries when they disobey strict orders. A military is necessary to protect our borders and our freedom. Finally, we wouldn't get any services from the government such as the police force and fire department. Without the police, no laws would be enforced. The streets will be dangerous and drug use would skyrocket. Also, the fire department wouldn't exist so if a home is on fire, it could catch a whole town on fire. Without these services, the country would be so much more dangerous. All in all, government is crucial for our society to function to its fullest. Without regulations, military, services, and so much more, our country would fall apart and eventually be taken over. By having our democracy, it protects us and allows us to strive.
