I believe the government is necessary because without it there would be chaos. Rules and laws would no longer be in place to keep the peace and protect the population. Without a distinct leader in place, there would be a struggle for power to control the country. Also, with human nature, it's easier to do more harm than good. Currency would be meaningless along with jobs and schools. We would likely be unable to function as a cohesive society.
