What do you mean 'funded'? It was considered a payment for the favour that we had done for you! We had helped to curb a fundamentalist state (i.e. Iran) and averted a religious crisis for the Arab countries in the region.
Our country Iraq was right in laying claim over your land as it originally belonged to us. We had inherited the Ottoman empire and historically, Kuwait was part of the Ottoman empire, isn't it?
The peaceful talks weren't 'peaceful' at all. It was somewhat antagonistic as Kuwait didn't even bulge when our country, Iraq, placed reasonable demands on Kuwait.
