There are, will be and have been, many opportunities to award bravery to individual soldiers, alive and dead, who are deserving of recognition for their selfless actions and there are many soldiers and others who have lived to tell the tale because of them. Heroes are individuals who rise above the occasion to demonstrate human valor and show that all human beings have the potential for courageous acts and should be regarded for this whether it happens in peace or war. So theoretically are you saying that " these heroes" are more deserving than all the other soldiers risking their life for the sake of their country. Individuals may seem to do great things however you must remember that without the other soldiers they would be nothing. Side: no

Above and beyond the call of duty is a statement often made when awarding bravery. Many people perform good deeds in the call of duty, Firefighters, SES, Marines etc etc etc and etc however it is those that go above and beyond that call that are the ones who stand out from the crowd and are regarded for their selfless actions. I've been thinking really isn't just some individuals receiving war medals "for their contributions to the world" isn't that just insulting ot all the people who didn't come back from war or the people supporting from the sidelines. Without them how would these "heroes" even be able to do anything. It really is an insult to all the other participants and soldiers of war. Either you give them all the same amount of medals or none. Side: no
This is a very wimpy philosophy... Its like having a race and giving everyone certificates for participating rather than medals to the winners. My great grandfather was awarded a medal for jumping on a grenade to save the life of another. This sort of thing should be recognised. Side: yes
