Does listening to music help you focus when writing, doing homework, ect.?

Yeah, I study, do homework, clean to music all the time. It motivates me and keeps me energetic. You have to choose the right kind of music that works for you though. For example, if I'm jogging, or cleaning, I'm gonna listen to something fast like way away - yellowcard

But if I'm writing an essay or studying psychology I will listen to something more slow like rescued - Jack's Mannequin Or maybe even some pink floyd.

Also if it isn't music that you like it will do the opposite. If it is a song I hate it throws me way off.
