In createdebate, should arguments that are not related to the subject at all, be reported?

Some people have been adding arguments that are completely out of the topic and trash talking, should they be reported?

I say no for a few reasons.

One, is that a lot of people on here talk often, we know each other, and so sometimes we have a tendency of maybe starting somewhat on topic, but veering off to continue another conversation that they've had before.

Also, one of my favorite things about this site is that we have so much freedom. Andy lets us do what we want, and it's one of the things that make this site different.

It's better with minimum moderation, because then it's the most honest. I know some people may not like honesty, or take things the wrong way, but it's freedom of speech.

What does that have to do with boobs? Ooops..., I think I'm off topic ;)

Joe, you should know this by now, boobs are never off topic. ;)

I agree, I will be forever in spam jail if every post that is off topic is reported. OMG, I would have to contemplate some very drastic measures to deal with that problem...but it really isn't a problem.

To Saurbaby's point, I try hard, really really hard to let people be free to write what they want, how they want, when they want. It really is a differentiator, but it is extremely difficult to let it go as well. Some people really push the boundaries of not just what is deemed appropriate, but push well past that. The balance is that we have schools using the site as well. I know there are 5th grades and up using the site. So, it is very difficult thrying to balance free speech and age appropriateness. Seriously, there are nights I don't sleep worrying about thing like ...Should I have left that debate on the home page? Did I really need to move that debate to NSFW? Should I have deleted that response? Man, that is the hardest part of running the site. Playing "God" is really tough because (if you believe in God), he/she lets us wander into the good and bad, known and unknown. I too have to let the same things happen...and it is really hard to do. I am relatively conservative, but in the recent years and due to the site, I have become a very moderate conservative. This isn't as easy as it looks!

somtimes it is because the person who created the debate is not related. That's why. Do not go around and report others.

No I don't think we should get banned if we get off topic on a specific debate. If that was the case I would probably have been banned tons of times because I have gotten off topic countless times but we need debaters and sometimes we are meant to go off topic for different reasons. But sometimes its ok to go off topic in my opinion.

Unless it was specifically stated in your debate description to stick on topic, I'd say no. And even then, I would ban the person from my debate before reporting them to Andy. Straying off topic isn't against the rules, anyways; that's not to say you can't try to make it against your rules.

I do not think off-topic subjects should be reported, but how about this instead. Should spam messages that are meant to annoy people, for example 'Spam much ASDASASFSDAASDGASDGSDAGSADSADGASDGSDAGSDGSDAGSADGSADSDGSDFASDFSDAFSDSADFASDFSDAC Troll Face', be reported? I know this should be another debate but... might as well bring in the topic.
