Nature vs. Nurture

What do you think affects the kind of person you are: your basic genes and traits (nature) or your environment and upbringing (nurture)?

Some people are just born ass holes. That's just the way some ppl are born. They can't help it. I hate it, but it's true. No matter how wonderful someone's parents are, they can still end up being the worst person in the world.

Hormones and brain patterns mainly, but even a descent person can be turned with enough abuse and drug interference

I think that, outside of really terrible circumstances, your genes are more important than your upbringing. Anyone who is terribly abused as a child will be messed up, yes, but someone who's genetically prone to, say, nicotine addiction will probably end up smoking, whether or not those around them do. Or, if someone has genes that tend to lead to aggression, they will probably be more aggressive than average. I think it's about half and half, but that nature is usually not thought of as much because it's not as evident.

Some people's parents let them do anything they want, so they grow up with the mindset that they are invincible and at the top of the world. They think they don't have to respect others and that the world owes them and the reason for that is their parents gave them the world while they were growing up. Discipline is the best way to prevent this from happening.

But at the same time, negletful parents lead to socially akward children so they never get the chance to bloom and therefore never get as far in life as someone whose parents spend the right amount of time with them.

agree with what you say, but you will find people raised in the way you are saying will have different endorphins, brain waves and hormones raging through their system. You will also find those who are spoilt or neglected will aim themselves at very similar drugs.
