Yes, minors should be charged as adults in some instances. No way do we want to let out a cold blooded killer in two years who shows no remorse for what he/she did. A better debate would have been should we have life sentences without parole for minors. The Supreme Court ruled the other day that those cases be ruled retroactive, giving some a second chance at parole, including a 78 year old who spent his entire life from 15 in prison. http://www.miamiherald.com/news/ Side: Yes they should

Yes, you're quite correct about the parents. Bur you should be aware that most nations have a sub culture in which parental control is all but nonexistent and they wouldn't have the remotest idea where their brats are unless they accidentally bump into them whilst burgling the same property. You cannot hold parents accountable. I mean God is the BEST parent there is and even some of his own turned out to be rotten. So you can't blame the parents for the decisions minors make. A parent CAN'T be around 24/7. Like they say, where ever there's a will there's always going to be a way. Side: No they shouldn't

Let's hope that irresponsible idiots like you are not the representative voice of American parenthood. Until minors reach the legal age of adulthood they are the responsibility of their parents. You want to have children? fine, but you feed them pay for their existence and ensure that they are reared to respect and abide by the law and the moral code of the society in which they live. God has no place in this debate. No wonder the crime rate among juveniles is so unacceptably high with moonbeams like you floating around spewing your dangerous sanctimonious fanciful notions. Yes, the borstals are full of underage criminals who are repeat offenders. If you're knee capped by a twelve year old the affect is just as painful and life changing had the assailant been an adult. So, in this day and age of equality all offenders should be treated even handedly. The establishment is reluctant to ''criminalize'' a young offender as the criminal record could retard their ability to secure employment or to emigrate. This deceitful practice means that a potential employer will be denied the true details of all applicants and the immigration authorities of other countries will be unaware of the applicants criminal tendencies. The same mercy you show, will be shown to you. Minors today .....I have so much pity in my heart and mind for them. When you see how the government refuse to let parents discipline...yes that means beating their behind sometime. You can't discipline your kids today or you end up in jail. Back in your day, things were nowhere near as hard as it is on these kids today. Porno is everywhere, parents are just as lost as the kids. I mean really, let's keep it real. Turn both parents over to being forced to take Bible studies and go out into the ministry and attend Christian meetings. Make it mandatory. Then I bet you'll see some positive change. Your misplaced pity for the useless parents and their criminal children is embarrassing. Hey fool, think that we're all getting it tough today? Read your history books. Look at the old photos of the early part of the last century and observe the half starved, unwashed children with no shoes running around the streets of American and European cities. Crime was bad, but not on the scale it is now. Punishment was swift and commensurate with the offence. Side: Yes they should

Many people who commit serious crimes are pardoned because they are minors. I have never heard this. What are you referring to? Minors are put in jail until they become adults then let go? Serious crimes usually warrant being tried as an adult. They then commit the same offense again. I haven't heard about minors who commit serious crimes doing it multiple times. What do you mean by serious crimes? Side: No they shouldn't

Absolutely not. However, they should be forced to serve time in a place where they are taught to live according to Bible principles. For 7 to 10 years. Spiritual food should be drummed into their heads. They should be allowed to debate and ask questions...anything. But to charge them as adults or put them in jail with adults, that's ludicrous. Minors today have so much on their plates...parents on crack, meth, prostituting etc....no I say. Let God have them. Then stand back and watch the transformation. Side: No they shouldn't

An adult is of an age where they should know better. We treat them as such. A minor is of an age where they couldn't know better. We treat them as such. I don't understand how this can be a topic to debate. They're children for gods sake. They aren't just "let off" serious charges, instead they're given different sentences focusing more on rehabilitation. Side: No they shouldn't
depends on the crime if a kid went out and murdered a bunch of people after a certain age when it should have learned hey killing people is not ok we should just end the little squirts life cause it will not benefit mankind what so ever be like putting down a dog that bites people but other than murder no minor should be tried as an adult. Side: No they shouldn't
It should depend on the age of the child, the circumstances of the crime, the type crime, and the motivation involved. I personally could not find guilty a minor of any age who murdered an abuser. However I believe I would always find guilty a child who committed rape, if I truly believed they did it. This is a circumstantial issue for me, however for the better of part of it, I believe children should be treated as children. Side: No they shouldn't
