Should Palestinian-Americans celebrate Thanksgiving (not as clear cut as you might think).

Thanksgiving

is a holiday that celebrates one group of people who seized land from another group of people.

Sort of like how the Israelis "seized Palestinian land."

What constitutes "ownership?" Do you have to have a title to the land? A piece of paper that says it's yours?

How long does land have to "belong" to you before it cannot be "taken" away? The Jews lived there before the Palestinians ended up with the land.

Maybe both the Jews and the Palestinians are wrong because they refuse to share it.

If we look towards nature for an answer, an animal "owns" a territory only as long as he is able to defend it from any and all challengers. If the Palestinians want that land, they'll have to fight for it ;)

If you happen to be a Palestinian-American and you're unsure as to what to do, may I suggest you drop the "Palestinian" part of your hyphenated heritage, become an American and be done with it. Turkey can be quite tasty and I'd hate to miss out just because of some feuding factions on another continent. I mean, the world has enough strife without anyone else contributing to it ;)

This is not true. Palestinians have outright refused to negotiate for land for about 5ish years. The Israeli government has only been asking for a fraction of the land in dispute since the partition following the collapse of the Ottoman empire.

Why on Earth would Israel want to manage a handful of Palestinians? Have you seen what unfettered muslim immigration has done to the EU? Israel has no incentive at all to manage a huge array of land there.

If you ask me, the real solution is to give Islam the boot, it's a cancer to our society.

Maybe the Palestinians would be more amicable to negotiating land away if the Israelis were to dismantle the settlements in the occupied territories ;)

Well, actually I can think of several reasons why not. However none of them are good cause for all Palestinians to boycott thanksgiving.

Much that I disagree with the Israeli invasion of Palestine, I do not think it is a reason to refuse to celebrate a 'Judaic holiday'.

Please what is the day of seizing land in Palestine it is not same as what of the Americas. Our people is not your people thanks for your consideration.
