Our law enforcement officers are predominantly trained in confrontational, escalation tactics. They are also heavily militarized beyond what is necessary or reasonable. Our legal system relies too heavily upon internal or otherwise non-independent reviews of reported misconduct, and rather rarely penalizes officers for excessive use of force or other abuse of power. So of course we have police abuse issues; one may argue extent, but I think it laughable to suggest that we have none at all. Side: Yes

We are having police abuse issues whichever way you read it. Are the police abusing us? Yes. Are we abusing the police? Yes. Does any other "free country" or any other industrialized, civilized, country have anywhere near as much abuse in either direction?? NO! (Of course, the yesses above are not all inclusive.) America needs an attitude adjustment! If that happened, gun sales would drop, so guess who just loves the American attitude of today! Side: Yes

Throughout history there has always been discrimination between people of different religions, cultures, traditions and languages and people who have a position of power over others have the potential to abuse it. Through technology abuse is more dramatic because it is being recorded live rather than reported post event and whistle-blowers are braving the consequences of their actions. This era has the potential to reduce such abuse because live footage is damning evidence and averts the opportunity for denial. Side: No
