Why waste? If the animal is deceased why waste what it has to offer, we harvest organs from dead humans after all. Why not harvest ivory from a dead elephant?

Side: For

But we only harvest the organs from people if the person had consented.

I'm against that rule, why wouldn't I be against the rule for [stupid] animals, too?

One word: poachers.

Who is to say how that animal met its final demise? Elephant charged the man with a rifle?

Poachers only gain a new excuse, and begin hacking away at the population of endangered species.

If this were allowed, elephants and a whole lot of other animals would all the sudden start dying off "naturally" at an increased frequency. People will find loopholes in the laws and exploit them until there is no other choice but to make it illegal all together.

It shouldn't be allowed, but people shouldn't find so much value in ivory, whale fins, buffalo skin, etc, either. It's not acceptable to rob the graves of people, why should it be more acceptable to do it to animals?

it may be that you will give your organs up for someone else when you are dead, but the same thing may not apply to the animal in question. as a 14 year old boy, i am opposed to the fact that poachers are finding loopholes in the systems in place in countries such as Africa. these creations of nature should not be interfered with to the point of these species almost becoming extinct. this may make me sound like some tree-hugging, peace-loving hippy, but the fact is i'm just another schoolboy with an opinion who wants to get their voice out there. this may be my view, and i understand that everyone has their own opinion, and that they are entitled to it. DaWolfman puts up a good point about harvesting what nature has left behind, but that is not my view on the matter.

Thankyou
