Democrats are not socialists. I am a socialist and I can assure you nothing in the democratic party represents socialism. Also whether or not you support abortion or lethal injection is actually not a left/right issue at all. You can be a collectivist who wants to end capitalism and still support or dislike either one of those things. The reason why they are a left/right issue in America is because of the religious nature of why the right opposes abortion and because the American left tends to be softer but still smart enough to realize that while adult criminals are sentient beings, fetuses are actually not capable of sentient thought or feeling pain until they have already developed for several months. If you simply make sure abortions aren't happening during late-term pregnancy there will actually be no pain and you won't be killing a sentient being. |
