Should all able-bodied citizens of a country have to complete at least 1 year of military training before turning 30?

Yes. It builds character. It's good training. You'll be a better person for it. It'll put hair on your chest. It'll piss off a liberal ;)

Side: yes

I fully support this. Military service has a lot of positive things it can offer people. It gives them a sense of unity with their fellow citizens, it teaches them how to work as a team, and everyone should know how to dismantle and reassemble a gun.

Side: yes

I don't know. It might cost a lot, but the military would be popular. Everyone would have character, the atitude, and the spirit. I do know what is gonna happen to the "nerds" and "weaklings"

Isn't the age in Israel 16?

I wouldn't want to go through training - but that is no reason not to do it.

Side: yes

If the question is pertaining to a democratic nation, conscription to the military is unacceptable, and it should always be voluntary.

The sheer increase in costs. The U.S. defense budget would probably double.

Side: No

No one should be forced into joining the military. Compulsory military service is wrong.
