Yes, definitely they are good. Singapore government is really efficient and our government is the one of the best countries in the WORLD. Some of us might say that Singapore's government ruling system is not good. They extort money from use. However, we must look at it in an optimistic way. They collect money from us for tax and stuff like that is for our own good. They renew our houses, create new shopping malls and we enjoy the benefits. You cant expect to get that for free man. We should be appreciative that they bothered to even care about us. So be thankful. =) Side: Yes
Yes, and certainly much better when you compare it to other governments around the world. Record wise, Singapore has prospered throughout the years under the government, and this is an amazing feat. We have rose among the neighbouring Asian countries to be one of the leading countries in the world, with a good reputation for healthcare, housing, economy. This success which many countries of hundreds of years of history still couldnt achieve, is achieved by Singapore in a mere 40plus years. Things would have been different if the Singapore government is not this good. I remember seeing an article by Bloomberg, commenting on our government. It stated that we have one of the cleanest government in the world. The main complains of the opposition is mostly on how the government "ignores" the opinions of the public, and issues regarding money such as taxes, and erp. Well, I just attended a meet-the-people session, sitting in with the writers and wow, I was amazed. It was different from what I thought it would be like judging on how people like to complain that the Government don't do anything for the people. But it proved me wrong. Every single plea from the people, ranging from bursaries, free food vouchers, lowering of rent, school sponsorship, to family issues, house ownership issue are heard and granted, and the MP writes to the ministries on behalf of all these people. If you are jobless, they help you find a job. Even small issues are heard and taken care of. Taxes, and erps are there for a reason. To solve other issues that are more crucial, such as using the money from taxes to aid the poor, and pump it in to our defence, education etc. If not, where do you expect the government to get the money from? And everyone knows that ERPs are there to ease traffic flow. Take the longer route if you don't want to spend your money, or take the erp route if you want to reach your destination faster. If these are not done/enforced, we would have faced other bigger issues such as more poor people without any financial aids, and heavy traffic jams, and then the unsatisfied bunch will then have something else to complain about. It seems like the arguments given by the opposing view point are superficial/complaints. Look at the bigger picture, or at least at the reason why these are imposed. The Singapore Government is good, but not perfect. However, you have to keep in mind that nothing is perfect. Side: Yes

There you go Mr Ryan Fong. Typical Singaporean. Complain complain complain. You just pointed out the few flaws of the Singapore government and forgot what they did for us. You would be rotting in Malaysia right now without the Singapore government. If the GST is too high, stop buying unnecessary stuff at the supermarket. If taxi is expensive, take public transport. Dont be a spoilt kid and wail for the taxi with the lollipop in your mouth. And please, dont talk about dirty toilets. Im sure you dont even clean your toilets at home. Your maid or your mum washes it and you dont even realize that. Think over your comment dude. Side: Yes
